Who You Will Learn From

Bionic Runner Eric Bronkala

Eric is a 30Xmarathoner and 1X50K participant who qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon in 2015. But in 2016, after more than 15 years of ever increasing pain in his right hip and a dramatic loss in his range of motion, he had a total hip replacement on March 7, 2016. Nearly four years later on February 4, 2020 he got another hip replaced as well! Now he am working on getting back to running by May 1 with the help of lots and lots of physical therapy, a supportive family and wellness team, and a positive attitude!

Danny Abshire

Danny Abshire is a passionate lifelong runner and cofounder of Newton Running, where he has spent 10 years designing and refining Newton Running shoes. As a longtime running form coach and injury expert, he has worked closely with thousands of athletes, from beginners to Olympic elites, helping them improve their running form and technique.

Dr. Stephen Bui

Dr. Stephen Bui is Board-Certified in Sports Medicine and Podiatric Surgery with over 22 years of experience. He had performed thousands of foot and ankle surgeries,  travels internationally to speak at health and fitness events.

Being an active marathoner and triathlete himself, he has special interests in posture, biomechanics, and sports medicine. Dr. Bui is passionate about injury prevention, pain relief and findings ways to balance fitness within busy schedules. His main focus is on rebuilding the foundation of our body from the ground up, starting with our feet.

Budd Coates

Budd Coates has been running for 40 years and coaching for 30. Along the way, he qualified for four U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon. He has bests of 2:13:02 in the marathon and 63:48 in the half-marathon, authored Running On Air and Run Your Butt Off, and has run sub-3-hour marathons in five separate decades.

Dr. Patrick Deheer

As a board-certified podiatrist and pediatric specialist, Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM can help with the most complex of foot and ankle ailments. Dr. DeHeer cares for patients at Hoosier Foot & Ankle at their six convenient locations throughout the Greater Indianapolis area and Kokomo. He’s currently accepting new patients.

After earning his doctor of podiatric medicine degree from the Dr. William M. Dr. Meagan Jennings is a podiatrist at El Camino Health. She specializes in sports medicine, foot and ankle trauma and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Jennings was inspired to become a doctor after incurring numerous sports injuries while growing up. She remembers what it’s like to be the patient and is sure to respect and accommodate her patients’ individual goals.

Dr. Julie Mcgee

Julie McGee is a physical therapist and endurance athlete living and training in San Francisco. Her participation in these sports has also made Julie aware of the challenges facing many endurance athletes. She has completed in 4 Ironman triathlons, at least 10 marathons, and countless other triathlons and running races of varying distances.

Barbara Peterson

Barbara is a six (6) time world champion of the famous off road triathlon XTERRA and continually demonstrates that being fit, focused, ambitious and happy is achievable and accessible for everyone…even athlete with an injury.
She has a masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Eastern Philosophy and utilizes her academic athletic and life experience to help people focus on the benefits and fuel derived from exercise.  She practices both psychology as well as medical recovery counseling, she works as a motivational speaker and she’s the author of multiple books relating to health and wealth being that can help athletes recover better. 

Dr. Stephen Schroeder

Dr. Schroeder is board certified in Reconstructive Rearfoot, Ankle Surgery and Foot Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Dr. Schroeder believes in personalizing his approach to each patient in order to achieve a full and early return to activities and function. He utilizes appropriate intervention and emphasizes education, involving the patient in the decision-making, treatment, and healing process.

Dr. Duane Scotti

Dr. Duane Scotti is a hip expert, who has taken his own journey from hip injury to full recovery and a return to running. He is also a top physical therapist, educator, researcher, running coach and creator of SPARK Physical Therapy, and the Healthy Runner Podcast.  With years of experience as a physical therapist, runner, and in combination with his strength and conditioning background, Duane has been working with many runners to improve all aspects of human performance.
Duane helps runners ranging from the couch to 5k runner as well as experienced marathoners  He also is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Quinnipiac University responsible for coordinating and teaching musculoskeletal examination, intervention, and advanced manual therapy within the orthopedic curriculum.

A San Francisco based foot & ankle surgeon has a unique perspective on foot and ankle injuries. He is a rock climber, skier, marathon runner, and 14-time Ironman triathlete. Because of this, he understands when someone has an injury and wants to get better, it is just so they can get back to activity. He understands that the common doctor’s notion of “just stop running” or “find another hobby,” or “take up Scrabble” are all unacceptable to the athletically minded. He believes that any active athlete can suffer an injury yet return to sport stronger than ever.

Gary Stotler

Gary holds a degree focused in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Wyoming. In addition, he is certified in Behavioral Change and Personal Training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as D.I.S.C. personality assessments with the John Maxwell Team.
He created his personal growth and development philosophy on his journey that started as an unhealthy 400 pound couch potato. He lost 200 pounds and taught myself to become an elite ultra-athlete completing numerous 100 mile ultra-marathons including the famous Leadville Trail 100 mile race in the highest mountains of Colorado. 

Lauren Demitri

Lauren is a Chinese Herbalist with Sinew Therapeutics.
